Giò heo hầm thuốc bắc là một loại canh tốt sức khỏe cho những người phải làm việc bằng trí óc, trẻ hóa làn da đặc biệt là phụ nữ sau sinh, phụ nữ mang thai. Mùi vị của canh lại rất dễ uống, vị ngọt tự nhiên của táo tàu, kỷ tử và nhãn nhục giúp bạn thêm ngon miệng.
Thuốc bắc đem rửa lại với nước cho sạch bụi. Thuốc bắc mua loại dùng để nấu canh hầm xương hoặc hầm gà đều được. Thịt chân giò heo mua về cạo, rửa sạch.
Cho thịt chân giò heo vào nồi nước sôi, luộc khoảng 1-2 phút. Tắt bếp, đem thịt chân giò heo xả lại nước lạnh. Bước này loại bỏ bớt mùi hôi của giò.
Chuẩn bị một nồi nước. Cho thịt chân giò heo, thuốc bắc, 1 muỗng cà phê muối vào hầm. Trong lúc hầm dùng muỗng hớt bỏ bọt trong nồi để nước hầm được trong hơn. Khi thấy giò heo chín mền, độ mềm do thời gian và lửa là được. Nếu muốn mền hơn bạn có thể nấu lâu hơn một chút. Nêm gia vị 1 muỗng cà phê hạt nêm, 1/2 muỗng cà phê bột ngọt cho vừa ăn.
Giò chín múc ra tô và thưởng thức. Nếu sợ béo bạn có thể vớt lớp mỡ trên mặt bỏ bớt hoặc thay giò heo bằng xưong sườn hoặc thịt gà đều được.
